Patiala

The frontrunner of the Patiala Lok Sabha Seat, Dharamvira Gandhi has taken a huge lead against the formidable candidate of Aam Aadmi Party’s Balbir Singh who is in the second place with 32360 votes. However, Bhartiya Janta Party’s Preneet Kaur also has fought well. The other candidates from Patiala’s seat are NK Sharma of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Jagjit Singh Chharbar of BSP. Last time Patiala’s seat was secured by Preneet Kaur while representing the Indian National Congress Party. She scripted history by achieving a decisive victory with a record margin vote count of 162,718. In 2019, INC’s Preneet Kaur secured a total of 532, 027 votes while the runner-up Surjit Singh Rakhra finished in the second place with a total number of 369,309 votes. In the previous Los Sabha Election, the Patiala constituency registered a turnout of 67.79 percent, indicating a strong engagement of electoral.

If we speak about the 2014 result of the Patiala Lok Sabha Seat, Dharamvira Gandhi who is representing INC in 2024, represented Aam Aadmi Party and secured one of the few seats won by AAP in the 2014 general elections. In 2016, Dharamvira Gandhi was ousted from the Aam Aadmi Party which also altered the political dynamics of Patiala. There is no doubt in the fact that Patiala is one of the most important seats in the Punjab region, thanks to its historical significance and electoral weight as well. This is why Patiala always remains in focus during the counting of votes. In 2024, Patiala once again became a focal point for the people of India. Thus, people in large numbers are anticipating who is winning Patiala.

As of 10:13, Dharamvira Gandhi who is representing Indian National Congress is leading with 33142 votes while Balbir Singh of AAP is too far in terms of vote counts although he is in second place. We would not surprised if Balbir Singh gets the lead in the upcoming rounds of vote count. Nothing can be said with guarantee as of now, as the thrill is building up with every minute passing. The final result of the Patiala Lok Sabha seat is still awaited.

For the unversed, Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha seats and Patiala is one of them. We have already said that Patiala is one of the most important seats in Punjab due to its historical and political significance. Patiala constituency is comprised of eight assembly constituencies. This Lok Sabha constituency has a population of 19 lakh with a literacy rate of 67.63%. The political history and diverse demographics of Patiala make all the parties fight hard for this seat. As of now, it seems that Congress Dharamvira Gandhi will be announced as the winner from Patiala. Stay tuned.
