On Monday, May 13, 2024, i.e. yesterday, a total of 96 constituencies for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, were under polls as part of phase 4 of the elections. During phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, everyone’s eye was on the number of voters who cast their votes on Monday because the initial phases of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 saw underwhelming voter percentages. Whereas, phase 4 of the general elections came as a turnaround in terms of voter percentage as phase 4 recorded around 67.25% according to the Election Commission of India. Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Voting highlights

Speaking of the states that were under poll in phase 4, there were a total of 9 states and a UT (Union Territory) where voting began at 7 AM and concluded at 6 PM. West Bengal surpassed Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, with the highest vote percentage of 78.37% while MP and Jharkhand recorded a 70.89% and 65.2% turnout of voters on May 13, 2024, respectively. Bihar saw a turnout of 57.06% and UP recorded 58.05 percent.

Speaking of the number of seats in phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, there were a total of 96 Lok Sabha seats that underwent polls on May 13, 2024, including all 17 seats and 25 seats of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, respectively, 8 of West Bengal, 11 of Maharashtra, 13 of Uttar Pradesh, 8 of Madhya Pradesh, and 4 of Jharkhand, 5 of Bihar, 4 of Odisha, and only one seat of Jammu and Kashmir. As of now, a total of 379 Lok Sabha seats from 23 states and UTs have undergone polls and recorded their fate in EVMs following the conclusion of the Phase 4 voting on May 13, 2024. The previous phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Phase 3, was held a week ago on May 7, 2024, when 65.68 percent of voters turned out to cast their votes, 1.32% lower than Phase 4’s 67.25% turnout.

As mentioned, a Union Territory also underwent polls on May 13, 2024, it was Jammu and Kashmir where the polls were held for the Srinagar seat. For the unversed, Srinagar underwent polls for the first time ever since Article 370 was revoked in 2019. As per the Election Commission of India, Srinagar recorded a turnout of 37.98 percent which is highest since 1996. In the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, only 14.43 percent of people cast their votes.

On Monday, many renowned faces and celebrities were spotted at polling booths to cast their votes. Among the superstars, Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR, Allu Arjun, and others were spotted during Phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 at polling booths, encouraging their fans and admirers to step out of their homes and participate in the general elections. On the other hand, some celebrities were in news headlines as they were contesting for Lok Sabha seats which were under polls in Phase 4.

Reportedly, a total of 1717 Lok Sabha candidates were in the fray in the phase 4 voting. Some of the well-known Lok Sabha candidates were former CM of UP and chief of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav from Kannauj seat, former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan who is a TMC candidate from Baharampur seat, union minister Giriraj Singh from Begusarai seat, actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha from Asansol seat, Asaduddin Owaisi from Hyderabad seat, Mahua Moitra from Krishnanagar seat, Bandi Sanjay Kumar from Karimnagar seat, and many more.

The next phases of Lok Sabha elections 2024, Phase 5, Phase 6, and Phase 7, will take place on May 20, May 25, and June 1, respectively. The fate of all the Lok Sabha seats will be announced on June 4, 2024.
