Fahadh Faasil’s Dhoomam To Release On OTT
Dhoomam is a Malayalam film that also marked the entry of Hombale Films into the Malayalam film industry after blockbuster films like KGF 2 and Kantara. Fahadh Faasil starring Dhoomam was released in theaters worldwide last year on June 23, in multiple languages, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. In the realm of digital platforms, where the films surface on OTT within one or two months of theatrical release, Fahadh Faasil’s film finds it very difficult to secure a deal with a leading streaming platform for its digital rights. After a wait for almost a year, the official news came up that Dhoomam will be released on a digital platform very soon.
As the film received myriad reviews from the audience, it could not bring glory to the producers as the film’s lifetime box office collection remained underwhelming. Many film critics called it a failure because of the much-anticipated collaboration of actor Fahadh Faasil and director Pawan Kumar and being presented by Hombale Films, an esteemed production company widely known for producing films like KGF and Kantara. Due to below-average buzz for the film before and after its theatrical release, it suffered a delay in being released on OTT.

Interestingly, when the film was announced it was said that Dhoomam was actor Fahadh Faasil’s most ambitious project. In the film, Aparna Balamurali portrayed the female lead role. The duo reunited after garnering praises in Maheshinte Prathikaaram. Dhoomam also stars Achyuth Kumar, Roshan Mathew, Anu Mohan, Vineeth, and Joy Mathew, in important roles. This film was directed by Pawan Kumar who also wrote the story of the film. However, Pawan Kumar has given several hits like U-Turn, Lucia, and Lifeu Ishtene. But Dhoomam was the first Malayalam film he directed in his career.
A famous musician from the Kannada film industry named Tejaswi composed the music and background score. The cinematography credit of Dhoomam goes to Preeta Jayaraman, the niece of famous cinematographer PC Sreeram, who also has worked in films like Abhiyum Naanum, Kannamoochi Yenada, Hey Sinamika, and Aakasamantha. Vijay Subramaniam and Karthik Gowda served as the creative producers, Chetan Dsouza as the action director, and Shibu Sushilan as the executive producer in the production team of Dhooman starring Fahadh Faasil and Aparna Balamurali in lead roles.
