People are preparing for the holy month of Ramadan as Shaban comes to an end.
Since the Islamic calendar is based on the moon, many people are curious about when Pakistan’s first Roza (fast) will start.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmon has set the date of the Ramadan moon sighting meeting for March 22.
Following the Asr prayer on March 22 (corresponding to Shaban 29), the Provincial Auqaf in Peshawar will hold the central meeting for the sighting of the Ramadan moon, which will be presided over by Chairman Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, in according to a statement from the ministry.
Other zonal committee meetings will also be held there, including at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Islamabad’s Kohsar Block, it was noted.
If the moon is sighted on March 22, the first Roza will fall on March 23, and in the absence of this, the Holy Month of Ramadan will begin on March 24.
But, according to the ministry, Abdul Khabir Azad, Head of the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee, will make the final decision regarding the sighting of the crescent.
