‘Heritage Marshall’ to be held
Mumbai, (Rep.): Forts are the glory of Maharashtra. Drinking habits are also evident at these forts. The state government will take strict action against those who do such things. It is intended to impose a minimum of three months imprisonment and a fine of at least ten thousand rupees on those who drink on the forts. Heritage marshals will be appointed for this. It is also proposed to offer a reward of fifty percent of the fine to volunteers who reveal such cases. Cultural Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar announced in the Legislative Assembly that the proposal has been sent for approval by the State Law and Justice Department. Raigad Fort comes under the jurisdiction of the Central Government. He also said that he has asked the Center to hand it over to the state government for at least five years.
The issue of protection, preservation and conservation of the forts in the state was raised through an attractive notification. Sangram Thopte, Ashok Chavan, Bhimrao Tapkir etc. raised this issue. Making a statement, Sudhir Mungantiwar said, there are 387 protected monuments in the state. During the previous government, the maintenance of these monuments was neglected. Funding was also insufficient. Now, money of about 513 crores will be given out of district planning. The work of creating public facilities at the places where there are 75 memorials has also been done and for this a fund of 65 crores will be given. Information about each of the 387 monuments will be available via QR codes. Mungantiwar said that the encroachments on the forts are also being removed. Bhimrao Tapkir had said that the Pune and Kalyan gates of Sinhagad fort were worn out; Mungantiwar also said that instructions have been given to prepare a plan.
Raigad Fort comes under the jurisdiction of the Central Government. Therefore, there are difficulties in obtaining different permissions. He also said that he has asked the center to hand over the fort to the state government for at least five years.
