Three killed, 7 injured in two accidents on Pune-Solapur highwayNews WAALI

Three people were killed and seven others injured in two separate accidents on the Pune-Solapur Highway, one near Bhigwan and another near Sortapwadi, on Sunday.

Two men in their early 20s were killed and three others were seriously injured when their car, which was moving at a very high speed, overturned near Bhigwan on Sunday around 1pm, police said. The accident happened in Swami Chincholi village near Bhigwan, which is about 100 kilometers from Pune City.

“Five people were traveling in the car. Basic information suggests that the driver lost control due to the speed and the vehicle overturned twice, seriously injuring all the passengers,” said an official. The five were rushed to a hospital in Indapur where two people were declared dead. Three others were being treated for multiple serious injuries, officials said.

The police have identified the deceased as Vaibhav Jambhale (24) and Pratik Gawali (22). The injured included Shahrukh Khan Pathan (22) and Suraj Shelke and Rushikesh Yele (both 23). All five belonged to Indapur.

In the second incident, one person was killed and five others injured in an accident involving an auto rickshaw and an unidentified car at Sortapwadi, about 30 kilometers from Pune City. Officials said that the rickshaw was hit by the car at around 11.45 in the morning. The deceased was a 50-year-old man traveling in the rickshaw. Four other passengers of the auto rickshaw also sustained injuries in the accident, officials said.
