Mumbai. Asia’s first woman loco pilot Surekha Yadav (58) drove the Vande Bharat Express from Solapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. With this, she is the first woman loco pilot to run this state-of-the-art train. For this achievement, he received a standing ovation from fellow pilots on the CSMT stage. A Central Railway official said it was a proud moment for women as well as for Indian Railways.
Surekha thanked the Central Railway for giving her the opportunity to run this train. The train left Solapur on time and reached CSMT five minutes before time. Surekha was trained at the Railway Institute in Vadodara in February for the implementation of Vande Bharat. The training included maintaining a signal, handling new equipment in practice, and coordinating with crew members. Regarding the first experience of running the Vande Bharat train, Surekha said, it is a semi high speed train with advanced technology. Compared to conventional trains, it requires more vigilance in its operation.
