Water released from Bisalpur dam is withheld for irrigation of rabi crops in Tonk district. The water that has been released in the left main canal for about three and a half months has been completely stopped since Saturday, while the water in the right main canal has also been reduced by 70 percent. SE VS Sagar of Bisalpur Dam Project said that the filling capacity of Bisalpur Dam is 315.50 meters RL. At the moment its level is 314.02 RL meters, which means so far only one and a half meters is empty. About 81 thousand 800 hectares of land in the area is irrigated by this dam. This year, after filling the dam to the brim, water was released in the left main canal on 22 November 2022 and in the right main canal on 24 November 2022. By January 29, 3.8 TMC of water had been consumed in irrigation . Due to rain once again on this day, the water that is released in the two canals was stopped. From February 12, it was once again released in the canals. On Saturday night, the water released from the dam in the left main canal has been completely stopped, while the water in the right main canal has also been reduced by 70 percent. Currently, 225 cusecs of water per second is being released in the canal, which will be completely stopped from Monday.
Be informed that the Bisalpur dam in Tonk district, which is one of the largest dams in the state, was completely filled last year due to a good monsoon. Drinking water is supplied to Jaipur and Ajmer districts including Tonk from the dam with a storage capacity of 315.50 meters RL. 8-8 TMC of water from the dam is earmarked for irrigation and evaporation, while 16 TMC of water is earmarked for drinking water.
