The central government has been dealt a major blow by the Supreme Court. The court has asked the Ministry of Defense to immediately withdraw the January 20 order, in which it was said to pay One Rank Pension (OROP) in four installments. The court said that the Ministry of Defense cannot take the law into its own hands. On this, the Central Government told the Supreme Court that it had paid the OROP arrears owed to ex-servicemen in one instalment, but that it needed more time to pay completely.
