Puducherry, Mar 15 (PTI) The government in the union territory of Puducherry on Wednesday declared a holiday for all schools up to class VIII from March 16 to March 26 due to the increasing impact of H3N2 influenza virus.
The order will apply to schools in all the four districts of the Union Territory of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam due to the increasing number of flu cases, especially among children.
During the Zero Hour, Home and Education Minister AK Nammashivayam said that considering the spread of flu among children, the government has declared a holiday for all government schools and private schools from primary to class VIII.
Significantly, the union territory health department had said on March 11 that 79 cases of similar or similar H3N2 viral had been reported in Puducherry till March 4.
