Protesting workers are urging the Governor to mediateNews WAALI

Kolkata, Mar 12 (PTI) West Bengal government employees protesting demanding increase in dearness allowance (DA) on Sunday urged Governor CV Anand Bose to mediate in the matter and hold a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee A meeting was requested .

The protesters said they would call off the hunger strike only after getting an assurance from the state government regarding the fulfillment of their demands.

Following the Governor’s request to sit together to find a solution to the situation, representatives of the protesting workers met him at Raj Bhavan.

A protester who was present at the meeting said, “The governor asked us to postpone the hunger strike. We promised them that we will definitely do that, but before that the state government will have to give an assurance.

“We want the governor to mediate in the matter and organize a meeting with the prime minister,” said the protester.
