Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has upheld the death sentence awarded by the trial court to the main culprit of the Noor Muqaddam murder case, Zahir Jafar.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Amir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court issued the decision, and the bench comprising Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan reserved the decision on December 21.

The main criminal, Zahir Jafar, and his co-accused had challenged the sentences handed down by the trial court in the High Court.

The court has rejected the appeal against Zahir Jafar’s sentence, and Zahir Jafar’s prison sentence of 25 years for rape was also commuted to death.

Islamabad High Court sentenced Zahir Jafar to death twice. Appeals against the sentence of accomplices Muhammad Iftikhar and Jan Muhammad were also rejected. The trial court sentenced him to ten years in prison.
