Senior vice president and Chief Organizer of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz said on Tuesday that elections will happen only after justice to Nawaz Sharif, News Aaj reported.
Addressing a party convention in Sheikhupura, Maryam said that PML-N would contest elections to win.
He alleged that the Imran Khan government made false cases against Rana Sanaullah and other PML-N leaders.
She criticized PTI chairman Imran Khan saying that thieves and robbers are hiding from arrest. “He never saw a political leader hiding from being arrested,” he said.
Maryam’s statement comes after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders called for a nationwide protest after a heavy contingent of police arrived at Zaman Park in Lahore to arrest party chief Imran Khan in connection with the Toshakhana case.
Following the call, several cities erupted with protest, and party supporters gathered to condemn the police operation against Imran.
After nightfall, anti-riot police swung into action and arrested some PTI workers. Police are expected to try to enter Zaman Park’s residence soon.
PTI workers clashed with law enforcement who retaliated with baton charging, water cannons and teargas throwing. Protesters threw stones at the police and attacked them with sticks.
