NH48 to be closed in Delhi for 90 days; slip roads will be used as diversionsNews WAALI

With the traffic police planning to close NH48 for the construction of a flyover and an underpass, commuters will face severe traffic jams across Delhi and Gurgaon for at least 90 days.

Senior officials in the Delhi Traffic Police said that more than 75,000 people use the national highway regularly. The flyover and underpass will connect Dwarka to NH 8 and Nelson Mandela Marg.

A 500m stretch of the highway will be closed to commuters. The construction will be done at the Shiv Murti point, which connects Gurgaon, Dwarka and south Delhi. Police officials said they will soon issue warnings for the closure of the highway.

Vehicles will be diverted towards slip roads adjacent to the carriageway towards Delhi. At Shiv Murti point, the vehicles will be diverted towards the carriageway.

A police officer said, “We have spoken to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials and they said it would take 90 days to make the flyover and the underpass. We will close the highway soon.”
