Despite the American summer is still two weeks away from now, the heat wave sweeps through across the Southwest United States due to which almost half of the Southwest states including Arizona. Nevada and California suffered the soaring temperature of at least 110 degrees Fahrenheit or 43 degrees Celcius. The National Weather Service also asserted that the heat wave may last for one more day and people can suffer the robust temperature until Friday evening.

Reports coming from Phoenix suggested that around 11 people fell ill from heat exhaustion and many suffered heat strokes on Thursday during the campaign rally for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. People who fell ill were also rushed to the hospital and received treatment. Later, all the 11 people from Donald Trump’s campaign rally, were also released, confirmed by fire officials. Following this incident, Phoenix Weather Service announced that the city suffered dangerous hot conditions which caused some people to faint.

The Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas shared that its fire officials responded to a total of 12 calls for heat exposure from Wednesday midnight. 9 out of 12 calls were regarding the people who needed emergency treatment in the hospital. However, the spokesperson for the Clark County Fire Department also said that the number of people who required treatment at the hospitals was higher than reported. It is believed that the heat waves led to different types of calls to the Clark County Fire Department, such as calls related to alcohol intoxication, fainting, dizziness, nausea, and more. As mentioned, the National Weather Service recorded soaring temperatures two weeks ahead of the summer, on Thursday, June 6, 2024, when the temperature was measured at 45 degrees Celcius in Phoenix where the previous highest temperature was 44 degrees Celcius in 2016, Las Vegas broke its years’ old record of 43 degrees Celcius or 110 degrees Fahrenheit which was recorded back in 2010. According to the National Weather Service, other Southwest states like Nevada, California, and Arizona also registered record-breaking temperatures on Thursday. The weather service confirmed that the heat waves arrived a little bit earlier than their usual time in the aforementioned places. Places at higher elevations or situated in the north reportedly witnessed much cooler temperatures than the Southwest cities.

Places like Reno, Nevada where the average temperature was 27 degrees Celcius for the same period last year, recorded a robust temperature of 37 degrees Celcius on Thursday, June 6, 2024. The service department in Reno, Nevada predicted that the temperature would fall during the weekend but only for a few degrees. Speaking of southern Arizona’s temperature, the normal temperature was 43 degrees Celcius, which was 37 degrees Celcius for the same period last year.
