Mumbai: The first railway line in Beed district of Marathwada is going to be inaugurated on 23 September. On Friday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will flag off the DEMU, which will run on about 76 km new railway line from Ashti to Ahmednagar.

It is noteworthy that in the year 1990, a decision was taken to construct Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli rail route. The project, which was delayed for 25 years, gained momentum after the Modi government came to power in 2014. Out of this 261 km, 67 km has been completed from Ahamnagar to Parli. It was decided to run regular trains between Ahamnagar and Ashti. According to Central Railway, DEMU will be flagged off on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde, Union Minister of State for Railways Rao Saheb Danve and DCM Devendra Fadnavis.
