A Guelph man has been arrested after allegedly driving on a sidewalk to avoid police.
The officers were first called around 4 p.m. to a disturbance in an apartment in the city center.
Police say a man arrived in his vehicle and continued to honk his horn while shouting profanities at officers.
He allegedly refused to roll down his window or identify himself and fled from officers onto Macdonell Street.
Police say when they tried to block his path on Carden Street, he drove on the sidewalk and sped away, his tires squealing.
The officers didn’t pursue him for reasons of public safety, but they didn’t have to because the man came to the police station 90 minutes later and was arrested.
A 44-year-old Guelph man is charged with dangerous driving, fleeing police and violating probation.
