LAHORE – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday that after failing to use all ‘political gimmicks’, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was now “playing dirty politics over the dead bodies of poor people to get minor political gains”.
Addressing a press conference here, she lashed out at the PTI chief and asked how many more lives he would use to gain political mileage.
The minister said that “Imran Niazi is hell bent on creating anarchy and lawlessness in the county”. She recalled that when the motion of no confidence was presented against Imran last year, he claimed that he had concocted a cipher story and foreign interference without thinking that this would damage Pakistan’s foreign relations.
Marriyum now said “Imran Niazi apologizes to the US and gives an explanation for his self-created cipher plot”.
He said the PTI chief was not a bit worried about dragging the country towards anarchy just for his “political interest”.
He said the former prime minister was using the said tactics to regain power at any cost. For these reasons, the minister said that Imran has decided to “play with the cipher” and force the speaker, the deputy speaker of the National Assembly and even the president to break the Constitution under his nefarious political agenda. He said behind closed doors, Imran offered the former army chief a life extension, but when his offer was rejected he started “attacking national institutions”.
Marriyum said that despite all his efforts, he could not spread anarchy and lawlessness in the country and his alleged wish to “separate Pakistan after the fall of his government” was not fulfilled.
“From cipher manipulation, his propaganda moved to imported and foreign government conspiracy to gain his nefarious designs,” he said. He said that all political gimmicks of the PTI leadership, including allegations of an imported government, have failed miserably. The minister claimed that “Imran Khan handed over the country to the IMF and played with the country’s economy”.
Marriyam Aurangzeb said that during the tenure of PTI, the practice of horse trading during the Senate elections was rampant and at the time of no trust vote, an audio leak of Imran about buying the loyalty of legislators came to light exposing his so called democratic qualities. . .
“When Imran’s narrative of foreign conspiracy and the imported regime fell flat, his long march began when the detonation incident took place and the “politics of dead bodies” began. She recalled that TV channel reporter Sadaf Naeem ran after Imran’s container while fulfilling professional responsibilities, but she was not allowed to take Imran’s interview. Instead, she unfortunately met with an accident and was crushed under the container but the PML-N leadership never accused Imran of her death, the minister confirmed.
The minister claimed that journalists were arrested and kidnapped during the PTI rule, and their ribs were broken, and at the international level, Imran earned the name of “predator of journalists”. He asked how many “dead bodies would Imran need for his dirty politics”? The minister said that on the instructions of Imran, the provincial ministers of KP and Punjab were asked to write letters to sabotage the agreement with the IMF. The minister also lashed out at the PTI chief for plunging the nation into the abyss of inflation and “stopping” the IMF program which he himself had signed and played with the interest of the country. He said that Imran, the other day, shared an audio of Maryam Nawaz, trying to give him a spin, but on the contrary, the latter never accused Imran or PTI of Zille Shah’s murder, instead he said it was an accident. Marriyum said that instead of appearing in the courts to be held accountable for his crimes Imran Khan plastered his leg.
He said the PTI leadership has used the “mentally challenged person Zille Shah” for its political agenda. He also charged that PTI leader Raja Shakeel’s double cab vehicle was used to shift the deceased body to the hospital, but they escaped from the hospital. He said that in Maryam Nawaz’s audio leak, PML(N) chief organizer expressed regret and sadness over the attitude of the PTI workers who left Zille Shah’s body in the hospital and escaped.
He said that Maryam, even in her speech, had not accused Imran as she had no intention of creating anarchy in the country.
On the contrary, the minister said that Imran wanted to create anarchy and lawlessness in the country as he was not willing to appear in the courts and file answers to the cases brought against him. He said that today Imran gave a rally call[which now has been postponed], lambasting the latter for avoiding the court summons by giving excuses for medical reasons. “He[Imran] has become a senior citizen suffering from diseases that cannot be publicly named,” he said.
He said that Imran used to ridicule his political opponents for their ailments but now he gives excuses for his personal ailments. He questioned why the PTI leadership did not inform the police and call an ambulance when they saw that Zille Shah had been hit by a vehicle. He asked why PTI leader Raja Shakeel’s driver was given shelter at Imran’s residence in Zaman Park.
He questioned why PTI leader Dr Yasmeen Rashid did not inform the police about the real issue of the incident and why Imran made a tweet even before the post-mortem of the deceased. The minister said that the PTI leader’s black double cab was tracked by 31 secure city cameras in Lahore. He said Raja Shakeel was hiding in Zaman Park and Imran summoned Zille Shah’s father at his home and “offered him money” to charge the police, but he said it was an accident.
He said that Dr. Yasmeen Rashid knew every detail about the unfortunate death of Zille Shah but did not inform the police who had now tracked everything from the CCTV cameras. He said the PTI leadership was trying to use the dead body of his poor worker as “fodder for his nefarious political agenda and now that the truth has come out, Imran has announced an uproar”. She told him that instead of creating anarchy and lawlessness, Imran should appear before the courts, and tell the truth about “theft of Toshakhana’s gifts”, “misuse of charity money and his relationship with Tyrian White”. He said that Prime Minister-elect Nawaz Sharif used to appear in courts in false cases to set an example for others. His daughter was handcuffed before him, but he never sought to be exempted from personal appearance. Marriyum said that Imran has arrested all PML-N leadership including Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafiq and Rana Sanaullah.
He said that Imran got “political advantage from the death of PTI worker Zille Shah”. Responding to journalists’ questions, he said that Imran Khan was fully aware that he had no answer to the allegations made against him. He said that Imran, who used to accuse political opponents of corruption and money laundering, was himself involved in minting money from the national treasury.
Taking a jibe at Imran, he said he had the “habit of taking money from other pockets”, and when he came to power, he “ruthlessly looted the national treasury”. He said the government did not believe in political persecution, otherwise it would have arrested Imran last year when the PDM government came to power.
He said that Imran was facing cases in the courts for which he should be held accountable. He said the PTI was not a political party, rather a “bunch of political conspirators”.
He said that a person who submitted the answer before the courts that he was ill and could not appear in person, was today ready to lead the political rally.
To a question, he said that all citizens should be treated equally by the law of the land. He said that Section 144 was placed for that person who was escaping from the courts on the pretext of health issues but was ready to lead the agitation.
“Section 144 was imposed on the person who threatened the courts, which prompted party workers to break the gates of the courts, who use women and children as a shield to escape arrest,” he maintained. The minister further said that if such individuals were exempted, then all the accused would start behaving like Imran.
To a question, he said that Shehbaz Sharif had a glorious record as the chief minister of the Punjab and as the chief minister, despite the conditions of the IMF, he had given a great Ramazan package where the poor would get wheat flour free of cost. He said that Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister has successfully completed the IMF program as the items of edible prices, power and gas tariffs are at an all-time low compared to the Imran Khan era. She repeated once again that Imran had signed an agreement with the IMF and that he himself had “stopped it”.
