In this regard, he asked all the states and union territories (UTs) to make preparations to deal with the scorching heat from now itself. Gauba said that there is a possibility that the year 2023 will be hotter than usual. In such a situation, it is necessary to prepare adequately from now on to face the challenges associated with it.
Gauba also said that central ministries and departments are working closely with states and union territories to ensure preparedness level and timely implementation of mitigation measures. Despite this, the chief secretaries of all states should review the preparedness for heat waves and summer heat with the departmental secretaries and district collectors concerned.
Cabinet Secretary, Rajiv Gauba also said that people should be made aware from now on to avoid heat stroke, stay indoors during the day and avoid strong sunlight etc. so that people do not suffer from health problems due to scorching heat and will happen. For this, advisories issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) can be translated into regional languages and disseminated.
