GOC 12 Terms Div AJK Most Suitable Region For Adventure Tourism, Winter SportsNews WAALI

MUZAFFARABAD, (UrduPoint News / Pakistan Point – 12th Mar, 2023 ) : General Officer of 12 Division, Major General Muhammad Irfan, has termed Azad Kashmir as the most suitable region for adventure tourism and winter sports and has offered all possible cooperation to civil . administer on behalf of the army in order to promote adventure tourism and winter sports in the region.

He was speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration of the 3-day Winter Sports Adventure Tourism Festival at Adang Kail of Neelum Valley district of AJK, held under the auspices of the Pakistan Army.

Besides others, the festival was attended by Special Adviser AJK PM Sardar Muhammad Israel Qazi, Assistant Commissioner Sharda Musharraf Hussain Mir, HR Tourism Malik Ghulam Murtaza, Tehsildar Muhammad Mushtaq Qureshi, DFO Kail Raja Faraqat, District Education Officer for Women, DEO for Male Khawaja Zakir, and people from different backgrounds.

Calling Adang Kail the best place for adventure tourism and winter sports, Major General Irfan emphasized that promoting active tourism is inevitable for sustainability and preservation of natural beauty and for combating climate change.

He said that local people could get employment opportunities at their doorstep by building tourist destinations and other facilities for tourists under public-private partnerships.

Most of the tourists also came from different parts of Pakistan to attend the colorful winter sports festival. Tourists and the local community said the festival was a welcome step towards adventure tourism and winter sports in AJK.

Both male and female students participated in various programmes, including local and national sports and presentation of Kashmiri, Shina, Poshtu and Pahari songs.

Local children demonstrated naisky running and snowboarding together with players from Chitral. The team of students demonstrated an aerial game down a hill from the starting point, raced sheep lifts and performed mock rescue operations through a wooden skip board and pulled tugs which scared the tourists.

At the end of the various games, the GOC-12 Department praised the performance of students and players from various sports and awarded medals, certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to the best performers.

He also presented souvenirs to government officials and guests, including Special Adviser to PM for Clean and Green Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Israel Qazi, AC Sharda, HR Tourism, DFO Kail and others.

Sardar Israel Qazi, on the occasion, thanked the district administration, 32 Brigade Commander, Pak Army jawans and the players, civil society, and respectable personalities of the district for attending the winter sports festival and making it a success.
