Mumbai: A major fire has broken out in a well-known fashion street in South Mumbai. Mumbai’s Fashion Street is a famous market for ready-made garments. A fire broke out from one such garment shop around 12 noon and spread to several shops. As soon as the incident was reported, 6 fire tenders reached the spot. The cause of the fire is not known. According to preliminary information, the fire started due to short circuit. Now the fire has been brought under control. But 15 to 20 shops have been completely gutted.

There was a huge crowd in the market due to the weekend

Due to Saturday and Sunday, the market was crowded and there was a lot of hustle and bustle. In such a situation many people were scared due to fire. Fire brigade personnel and officials started trying to control the fire. Metro cinema has this fashion street which is famous for fashionable clothes. There are more than hundred clothing shops here. The flames were visible from a great height. Smoke could be seen billowing over Fashion Street.

The fire spread quickly because the shops here are adjacent to each other. It spread even faster due to the presence of clothing stores. Due to the rapid spread of the fire, the local administration immediately evacuated the entire area by evacuating the people present there. So there is no news of any casualties yet.

Huge economic loss

According to the report received, there was no loss of life in this fire incident but around 15-20 shops were gutted and a huge financial loss is being feared. Police team and BMC employees reached the spot after receiving the fire notification. According to the information received, smoke started coming from one of the shops around 12 noon today and before anyone realized anything, the fire broke out. In view of the sight, this fire had taken a ferocious form.
