Fall National Herald: ED issues subpoenas for Andhra convention leaders, Telangana: The Tribune IndiaNews WAALI

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), has summoned some Congress leaders from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to appear for questioning in connection with its ongoing investigation into the Congress party’s operations. belonged to the National Herald newspaper, officials said on Friday.

Officials said while some of the party’s politicians were summoned here for questioning over the next few weeks, others received communications to explain certain payments to Young Indian, the company that owns the National Herald newspaper. Four leaders were issued the appearance notices, they added.

Earlier this week, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar told reporters after completing his questioning session with the ED in Delhi that he was being questioned about certain transactions he had made with the company in the past.

“Surprisingly, they (ED officials) asked me about the payment of one of my trusts, me and my brother, to Young Indian,” he had told reporters Sept. 19, while noting he was taking more time from the agency requested information about his assets and liabilities.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Party MP Rahul Gandhi, among several other Congress leaders, have been questioned by the ED in the National Herald case in recent months.

The National Herald newspaper is published by Associated Journals Ltd and the ED raided the Young Indian office at ITO in Delhi in August as part of its investigation.
