With this letter, I would first like to make it clear to the parents of all students that Chandigarh University and Panjab University are two different universities. Chandigarh University is a private university governed by the Punjab State Act No. 7 of 2012 on July 10, 2012 during as Panjab University is the only State University in Chandigarh listed on UGC’s website at the link https://www.ugc.ac.in/stateuniversitylist.aspx?id=ccLCwdwN3agu0EA/sOuBRw==&Unitype=iA7z/ds2To+MdcuCvitOpQ= =on the University Grants Commission website www.ugc.ac.in.
Chandigarh University has clearly indicated this on its website at the link https://www.cuchd.in/recognitions-and-approvals/ “Note: While CU makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of this information, there is no guarantee it will remain accurate year-round. Applicants are advised to confirm the program details before submitting an application.” This means that they are never certain about their status and course recognition. On the website of this private university ie http://www.cuchd.in you will not find every detail right. The university was initially a group of colleges known as the Chandigarh Group of Colleges like any other group of colleges in Punjab, Haryana or other parts of the country. But after the establishment of Chandigarh University Under the trust’s leadership, namely the Chandigarh Educational Trust in 2012, there has been nomenclature confusion as many people including students and parents are considering admitting their children to the university based on their name. In fact, some of the people think so Chandigarh University is Punjab University, which is located in sectors 14 and 25 of Chandigarh. But it is not like that.
