London: A new study has found that the Earth’s inner core may have stopped rotating and started rotating in the opposite direction. The research, published in the journal Nature Geoscience, says the research will improve understanding of the effects of deep processes on the Earth’s surface, including the length of the day. Previous research has shown that the inner dimension of the Earth is separated from the rest of the Earth by an outer liquid layer. Its magnetic field causes the gravitational effects of the mantle, including the rotation of the inner layer.
