Death Penalty for Chad Daybell: Idaho Court Concludes Doomsday Murder Trial

Chad Daybell who already had been convicted was waiting for the sentence. On Saturday, June 1, 2024, an Idaho court announced the death sentence for the killers of Tammy Daybell, Joshua Vallow, and Tylee Ryan. However, the Idaho jury agreed on the death sentence unanimously and after deliberation of just one day. Chad Daybell was given a death sentence for the gruesome killings of his wife and his girlfriend’s two children. This case started in 2019 with the missing reports of Chad Daybell’s girlfriend’s two youngest children.

On the day of sentencing, the killer, Chad Daybell attended the court in a dress shirt with a tie. He was sitting with both of his hands in his lap at the defense table. The 55-year-old criminal did not express any emotion upon hearing that he had been given a death sentence. Chad Daybell remained silent on Saturday, June 1, 2024. When the judge asked Chad Daybell if he wanted to say something in his defense in court, the criminal refused to say anything.

It was quite surprising to see Chad Daybell with no emotion or worry on his face even after learning that he would face the death penalty for the gruesome killings of his wife Tammy Daybell and his girlfriend Lori Vallow Daybell’s two youngest children Tammy Daybell who was 16 years of age and Joshua Vallow who was 7 years old at the time of their murders. The news of Chad Daybell’s death sentence came a couple of days after he was found guilty on Thursday.

The jury deliberated only on Friday to decide the death penalty for Chad Daybell, which was announced on Saturday. Chad Daybell’s companion in the crime and his girlfriend Lori Vallow Daybell whom he married after his wife’s death, also has been found guilty. She was convicted in connection with the three murders last year. Where is she now? As of now, Lori Vallow Daybell whose two youngest children were killed, is awaiting trial in Arizona. As per the reports, Lori Villow was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of Charles Vallow, her fourth husband who was also the father of Joshua Vallow.

This heinous act of crime came to light in 2019 when the missing reports for the two children were filed by a family member. After a year-long search and involving multistate agencies in the search of two children, their body remains were discovered on a property that belongs to Chad Daybell. The prosecutor said that 7-year-old Joshua’s body remains were recovered from trash bags and duct tape while 16-year-old Tylee’s remains were recovered from a pickaxe and shovel in a shed. Chad Daybell is a self-published author who published doomsday-laced fiction to justify the gruesome killings of his wife and two children.
