Big responsibility on Ratan Tata’s shoulders, Sudha Murthy of Infosys also in new role – News18 Lokmat News WAALI

New Delhi, September 21: India’s veteran industrialist and Honorary Chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata, former Supreme Court judge K.T. Thomas and former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Kariya Munda have been made trustees of the PM CARES Fund. The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement and gave this information. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a meeting with the Board of Trustees of the “Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief Fund in Emergencies” i.e. “PM CARES Fund”. According to the PMO, the meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as well as newly appointed Trustees KT Thomas, Rhea Munda and Chairman Ratan Tata.

Inclusion of Sudha Murthy in Advisory Board –

In the meeting, it was decided to nominate former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Rajiv Maharshi, former Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murthy and former Executive Officer of IndiCorps and Piramal Foundation Anand Shah to the advisory board of PM CARES Fund.

According to the PMO, the Prime Minister said that the involvement of new trustees and advisers will provide a comprehensive approach to the functioning of the PM CARES Fund. “His vast experience in public life will add impetus to make the fund more responsive to various public needs,” he added. While the Trustees appreciated the role played by PM Cares during the Covid era, the Prime Minister appreciated the countrymen for their generous contribution to PM Cares. After the outbreak of the Kovid-19 pandemic, the government had set up the PM Care Fund to deal with any kind of emergency or crisis situation.
