Today, before the session began, the opposition protested on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan with carrots in their hands to ask the government to answer the farmers’ questions. After that, as soon as the work of the House started, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde made an important announcement to the onion farmers. He said minimum minimum price cannot be applied to onion as it is perishable. Onion is an important cash crop in Maharashtra. Therefore, the price of onion is a very sensitive part of the relationship with the farmers. Factors such as domestic demand, exports affect the price of onion. Due to all these factors, the price of onion had fallen this year. We appointed a committee to give relief to onion farmers. After a comprehensive consideration in this committee, Rs 200 and Rs 300 were recommended to the onion producers. But Eknath Shinde said that since our government is supporting the farmers, it was decided to give a subsidy of Rs 300 per quintal to the farmers.

Now buying onion from Nafed has also started. There is a rate of ten and a half rupees. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde claimed that due to all this, farmers producing onions will get a big relief.
