The Mohali police on Saturday arrested Anand Bihari Yadav, owner of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) team Bhojpuri Dabanggs, for allegedly duping a man of Rs 4.15 crore on the pretext of investment.
The police team arrested Yadav from a hotel in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur before the CCL match. He was produced in court on Tuesday and remanded in police custody for two days. Yadav was booked in the cheating case on December 15, 2022, after Muktesh Dewan, a resident of Dhakoli, approached the police with a complaint in September.
In his complaint, Dewan said that Yadav lured him to invest in an airline company, Avika Airlines Private Limited. Dewan told the police that he was made a director in Avika Airlines Private Limited by Yadav, with 10.15 percent shares.
Dewan said he had borrowed money from his relatives to give to Yadav but when he demanded it back, Yadav made excuses. The FIR was registered under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Eight teams represented their respective film industries in the Celebrity Cricket League 2022. They are Telugu Warriors, Karnataka Bulldozers, Chennai Rhinos, Kerala Strikers, Bengal Tigers, Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Mumbai Heroes and Punjab De Sher.
On March 18, Karnataka Bulldozers and Telugu Warriors will play the first semi-final, followed by the second semi-final between Bhojpuri Dabanggs Mumbai Heroes.
