After strong opposition to the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to implement property tax from 1 April this year, the government has now sought public opinion in this regard. The UT administration has issued a circular asking people to submit their views and suggestions in this regard within ten days. These suggestions can be sent to the Urban Development Department’s email address at [email protected] within ten days.

In this circular, it is stated that the property tax will be collected on the vacant houses, flats, commercial establishments in the municipal areas of Jammu and Kashmir UT from 1 April 2023 as per the earlier notification issued by H&UDD.

It should be noted that on the 21st of last month, the government issued a notification regarding the imposition of property tax in Jammu and Kashmir, after which this issue led to a new debate in UT. This initiative by the government was opposed by different political parties and common people and these political parties organized a sit in protest at different places in the UT and after that the government has now asked people for their opinion on property tax. publish
