MUMBAI: We made several observations to the government for the old pension. There have been many discussions. But no final decision was taken by the government. Employees were left in the lurch. That is why 1.8 lakh state government employees are going on an indefinite strike from Monday midnight, Staff Coordination Committee convener Vishwas Katkar announced here. He announced that many government employees including government hospitals, schools, colleges, municipalities, Zilla Parishad, MHADA, Tehsildar offices are participating in the indefinite strike. The effects of this strike can be felt from today.

Regarding today’s alleged strike, state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde told the gathering that a committee has been formed by the government. Eknath Shinde announced that a three-member committee was being set up to conduct a comparative study of the National Pension Scheme and the Old Pension Scheme. Eknath Shinde also said that this committee will submit its report in three months.

The committee consists of retired Indian Administrative Service officers, Subodh Kumar, KP Bakshi, Sudhir Kumar Srivastava will be included. The Director of Accounts and the Treasury will act as secretary to this committee. Eknath Shinde said that the committee will submit the recommendation and the report regarding the remedial measures in three months. Similarly, Eknath Shinde also appealed that the strike called by the workers’ unions to implement the old pension scheme should be withdrawn.

Meanwhile, due to the state government workers’ strike, many people in essential services are suffering. That is why Ajit Pawar raised the question under the information point. Workers have started a strike from today for the old pension scheme, affecting essential services. Some hospitals are understaffed. The government discussed with the organization, but there was no way out. President, if essential service workers go on strike, the public will suffer. Therefore, Ajit Pawar demanded in the assembly that the government should resolve the issue of agitation immediately. Leader of the Opposition Ajit Pawar also asked what is the government’s role in withdrawing the agitation.
